Resumo: Natural stone is one of the oldest building materials and has been used throughout history in different applications, including ornamentation and cladding. Its use provides a connotation of luxury to buildings, in addition to the character of durability. There are several types of existing rocks and great variations in tone, strength, texture and mineralogy. However, cladding rocks degrade over time and tend to change when exposed to environmental and usage conditions, and these degradations can be accelerated in more aggressive climatic conditions, polluted environments or by the use of constructive or conservation procedures. and inadequate cleaning. In this way, the objective of the work is to suggest applications for stone materials that have characteristics of exceptionality and attention through the knowledge of their technological properties and the requests to which they can be submitted in different types of use. In fact, in general, the performance below expectations is restricted to some of the technological characterization properties, making it possible to adopt such materials in specific environments and types of uses, in which there is no significant action of the efforts associated with parameters with compromised performance. The work was developed using the results of technological rock characterization tests carried out at LABTECROCHAS - IGC - UFMG, in order to create a database of the intrinsic properties of materials such as: porosity, density, absorption, wear resistance and expansion. thermal. From the analysis of the database, samples in this exceptional condition were identified through normative parameters and performance evaluations suggested by technical works.
