Resumo: | In recent years, we have witnessed the migratory displacement of people from all over the world. Many peoples have tried to survive the installed chaos in their nations, taking refuge in countries they believe, even not being so promising, are at least places where hunger and war are not claiming so many lives. As an expected outcome, there has been new demands for teachers of their mother tongue to teach it to foreigners, and the paths to become this kind of teacher is what drew the guidelines of our study. In other words, we investigated the modest availability of Public Higher Education Institutions in Brazil that offer the major in teaching Portuguese as Foreign (PFL) /Additional (PAL)/ Welcoming (PWL) Language, whereas there are teachers working in that area. The two main objectives of the research that drew upon data obtained from the sayings of a group of 5 teachers of immigrant children enrolled in the Municipal Education Network of Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais were: i) to go on a “fact-finding mission” to learn more about their teaching paths in the field of PFL/PAL/PWL, and ii) to investigate what would possibly cause the desire (psychoanalysis) of one of these teachers to work in this area. The theoretical orientation of this study was the Freudian-Lacanian Psychoanalysis. Based on the Clinical Method, we developed the methodological to build a data set sourcing from interviews, group conversations and a research diary. Among the findings we point out, firstly, at UFMG, the Language Center (CENEX) of the Letters Faculty and the Post-graduation department are crucial in providing technical knowledge in the area – moreover, it is worth mentioning the relevance of the internship partnership they have formed the with the Municipal Secretary of Education of Belo Horizonte; secondly, we highlight the particular importance of the subjective knowledge (psychoanalysis) that belongs just and only to the teacher, therefore it cannot be taught; thirdly, lack of major in the area did not prevent the teachers from endeavoring their teaching career, and concerning the desire (psychoanalysis) of one of them, we inferred that is caused by the pursuit of reviving the encountering with the uncanny – Das Unheimliche - (psychoanalyses), which takes place when her structural void (psychoanalyses) is uncovered in the face of the voids of the foreign students; lastly, we stress the worth of the psychoanalytic research on Applied Linguistics, and vice-versa. |
