The aim of this dissertation is to present the outcomes of a summative valuation on software dedicated to the Italian teaching, namely: Q-express, Talk to me: italiano, Dentro L´italiano e Italicon. The focus of the evaluation is on the aspects related to the teaching of oral comprehension. There is an attempt in order to answer if these courses are helping the student in the Italian learning process, in a way that he/she may be able to engage in face to face interaction, as promised in their titles or descriptives. We consider the principle that the oralcomprehension is a sine qua non condition for the success in this kind ofinteraction. For the software evaluation, we propose a check list that could be used as much in summative valuations as in the formative ones. We hope that this research can help linguists or language teachers that are involved in the job of pedagogical consultancy related to the process of software development for the teaching of languages.
