Narrar a cidade: fabulação do espaço e espaços de fabulação na pesquisa sócio-espacial

This work has its origins in contact with elderly residents of Aglomerado da Serra, in Belo Horizonte, within the scope of an international network research. In that context, material from several interviews was discarded as it did not respond directly to the questions initially raised. Here, I propose a return to this material in order to investigate the narratives of these women as a tool for socio-spatial research. Firstly, I approach the nature of fiction present in the narratives of the elderly women as a possibility of fabulation about their own experience in the city and prospecting for the future. I suggest that fiction also forms part of those narratives socially legitimized as “truth”, as is the case with official history and the discourse of science. Finally, I present a series of experiments carried out during the research process, both individually and in the classroom, over a series of disciplines conducted by me as a teaching internship. These experiments address theoretical aspects of the production and representation of space, with the aim of elaborating other socio-spatial research practices engaged with critical thinking.
