Resumo: | The replacement of bones, articulations and tooth, for biomaterials are usually done in surgeries to relieve the pain and to recover the function of the affected tissue. High-wear resistance, high corrosion resistance in the human body environment, no toxicity and longevity in place are some the main characteristics that a biomaterial should present to have success in its application on implants and prosthesis. However, the bonedegeneration in the human body, inflammations in the articulations, as well as the wear or corrosion of the prostheses and implants, frequently happens and brings clinical complications. In this study, we used a system of X-ray fluorescence energy dispersive, widely used in quantitative and qualitative analysis of various materials, to assess theimplants that did not osseointegrated, since it is a technique for nondestructive analysis. This system consists of a Moxtek X-ray tube and an Amptek SR-100CR semiconductor detector. The analysis results of the dental implants, made by various manufacturers, collected from different dental courses and clinics because did not occurosseointegration showed that all implants have high purity Ti (99%) and the few elements found which could be considered contaminants (Ca, Cr, Fe, Ni and W) were found at trace levels (<1%). The results of the analysis lead us to believe that the not osseointegration of these titanium implants can not be attributed to their impurity, but mainly due to the process of big technologic evolution of the national enterprises. |
