Resumo: | This work was developed to evaluate the process capability of the SAE 1548M that has the requirement of Ideal Diameter (DI), calculated according to ASTM A 255 standard. Through the additive law of variances, a statistics mathematics model was developed in order to estimate the DI by using the chemical composition of the heats. The simulation results were checked against real results, showing good efficiency, helpingthe production process to be able to fulfil the specifications. The most important chemical elements in the variability control of the DI were identified: the Mn and Cr. A process change in the Mn addition has achieved great improvements. It was shown that the method can be applied to other steels, not only to estimate the DI, but other parameters that are linked to the chemical composition such as equivalentcarbon and mechanical properties. |
