Resumo: | The growth of the elderly population is a global scale phenomenon. In Brazil it is not different: the estimation is that 1/3 of the Brazilian population in 2060 will be made up of people aged 60 or over. This scenario challenges society and each area of government policies, especially health. ased on Michel Foucault's conceptual scheme, this study aimed to analyze the features of the elderly health care policy managed by the state of Minas Gerais, more precisely the More Life Program. Thus, it was possible to perceive the desire for longevity as an axis connecting the individual to the population that will be treated. In this context, family and society will be called upon to care for their elders due to the government quest for efficiency. The elderly will be normalized, subjectivated, disciplined and examined. In short, they will become the target of a biopolitics which compels them to self-management in order to remain active and healthy |
