Resumo: The advances in structural engineering and the many advantages that the sinusoidal profiles have presented, among them the economy of material and the possibility of large-scale manufacturing at low cost, make us believe in an increased use and investment in the production of these profiles in the world. The use of such viable profiles results in the interest of greater knowledge of their performance in many shipment situations, thereby generating the need for more research and publications that complement the existing ones. This paper presents a study of sinusoidal profiles used as crane girders, under the effects of some forces placed on rails. The study is of great importance, because this application is not consolidated yet. 230 numerical analyses were performed using parameterized models of finite elements, using the program ANSYS 10.0. The values of parameters are within the limits of sinusoidal profiles manufactured in Brazil. The models allow determining the effects caused by a force concentrated on a particular rail and the interaction of this force with the shear force.The results were used to propose procedures for determining the resistance to the concentrated forces and the interaction between them and the shear force. These procedures were based on curve fitting to the numerical results of all the analyses and, finally, were compared with formulations already presented by other researchers.
