Resumo: The Assessment Protocol of Attentional Capacity in Music Therapy (PACAMT) was developed in order to measure the occurrence of attentional observable behaviors in a music therapy process with Tuberous Sclerosis patients. Tuberous Sclerosis (TS) is a genetic disorder that generates benign tumors in different organs, especially the brain, heart, kidneys, skin and lungs. We have not found research on Music Therapy and TS in MEDLINE, LILACS, SciELO and Cochrane. Due to the increasing interest of the scientific community in research on music and the brain, some important data have been identified, such as the fact that music can affect the brain both functionally and structurally. This indication could justify the use of music as a clinical tool for the stimulation of brain plasticity. The application of music through specific techniques in neurological rehabilitation of sensorimotor speech language and cognitive areas is called Neurologic Music Therapy (NMT). Attention is an essential basic skill in the global development processes of individuals. Since music is composed by interesting patterns presented in constant changes in repetition and contrast, it can be used in cognitive rehabilitation in order to develop sustained, selective, alternating and divided attention. NMT features specific techniques focused on training and control of attention in cognitive rehabilitation. The application of neuropsychological tests was not feasible in this population due to the cognitive impairment of the observed individuals. PACAMT seeks to assess the attentional capacity through observable behaviors of joint attention skills and principles of NMT. Joint attention is the ability to coordinate attention between a social partner and an object of mutual interest. The PACAMT was applied by two independent judges who analyzed the videos of 20 music therapy sessions held in 2014 at the Brazilian Association of Tuberous Sclerosis (ABET). Agreement was tested by tetrachoric correlation among the assessments results. Among the 17 initial items, 9 have been eliminated. The dynamic bayesian confirmatory factor analysis was applied to the selected items. The model adequacy was assessed using Posterior Predictive P-value - PPP. The results show that the model adequately fit the data (PPP = 0.357), with good evidence of validity
