Resumo: | This master thesis deals with political regime transition and foreign policy, from the point of view of the Argentina and Brazilian redemocratization cases, respectively occurred in the years 1983 and 1985. The research is carried out in case and comparative studies, with literature and documents review, in a qualitative approach, producing inferences through cross-sectional and longitudinal comparisons, from 1979 to 1990. Thus, well-known theories of regime transition are mobilized, as well as assumptions of the Neoclassical Realism foreign policy school. Concerning the organization, firstly, the evolution of transitions and foreign policies, in its process and resulting, are individually analyzed; secondly, in cross-case comparison, similarities and divergences between the two processes are analyzed. In general terms, we conclude that the transition model is a necessary variable, although not sufficient to explain the production of foreign policy in the time frame delimited; the political transition model, however, due to its heuristic potential, can respond to the imperative of a parsimonious analysis, as well as may help in the production of inferences that can later be leveraged or complemented by the results of other foreign policy researches. |
