O patrimônio cultural na produção do espaço social: questões sobre memória e identidade no caso do Parque Municipal Fazenda Lagoa do Nado, em Belo Horizonte (MG)

The study of cultural heritage is a dynamic field that interweaves the most diverse disciplines in view of its spatial and temporal character among the inseparable aspects of culture and nature, as well as its relationship with the production and reproduction of social and cultural space. The Lagoa do Nado Municipal Park, object of study of the present work, is one of the green remnants that remain in Belo Horizonte (MG). Initially, it was owned by the family of former mayor Américo Renné Gianetti and, subsequently, it was declared a space of public interest by the municipality. In the 1970s, it was abandoned by the family and public authorities and, faced with the potential of the area and its socio-cultural link with the surrounding population, a local group mobilized to transform that green area into a municipal park. This study address the problem of the construction of collective memories and identities in the production of the social space by analyzing how the participation of the local population influenced the creation and permanence of the Lagoa do Nado Municipal Park as a local symbol. The methodology is based on bibliographic review, documentary research and qualitative research in participant observation modality and semi-structured interviews with content analysis with the actors involved in the object of study. It is concluded that the local exercise of the local actors was responsible for the creation and permanence of the Lagoa do Nado Park, which affected the production of the space, based on the collective resistance of the Associação Cultural Ecologica Lagoa do Nado. From these actions, Lagoa do Nado can be understood as a cultural heritage whose symbol instrumentalizes social integration through the bond with the values of collective life.
