Resumo: | The civil construction market has developed rapidly, bringing new perspectives to professionals. Considered a technological advance in the AEC (Architecture, Engineering, and Construction) sector, BIM (Building Information Modeling) is a new concept that has gradually been adopted and disseminated in the civil construction chain, with the objective of improving the management of the processes that integrate it, and the quality of the final product. It is a management and knowledge modeling platform that allows sharing information about a building operation, so that all those involved can articulate and participate in decisions throughout the process. However, the lack of qualified professionals for the use of BIM in the current labor market has been considered an obstacle to its implementation. The market currently offers opportunities to architects, who are not, however, prepared to benefit from it. Faced with this situation, this research seeks to understand in which stage the teaching of BIM is at the School of Architecture of the Federal University of Minas Gerais, considering this process since the beginning of its implementation. It analyzes the maturity of existing skills and cognitive abilities that are being acquired through the activities promoted within the Architecture Courses, confronting these data with the actual needs. The theme was approached by means of an exploratory qualitative research, based on a case study in this institution in Belo Horizonte, using a convenience sample. The choice of this institution was defined due to its tradition in teaching, as well as to the possibility of access to data and sources. Data collection strategies included content analysis (pedagogical projects and curriculum matrices) as well as semi-structured interviews with teachers and students. This data was then analyzed within the perspective outlined by the research objectives. The purpose is to bring subsidies for future discussions about the teaching of BIM, so that the interdisciplinary articulations that the platform provides can be optimized. |
