Resumo: The full meaning of communicative acts includes, in its verbal part, not only segmental content / lexical of statements, but also the non-segmental components, for example, the prosody. And this, in turn, covers various aspects of speech that are even capable of changing the meaning of an expression. Among the prosodic features, we know that the expression is an attitudinal one of the most important forcommunication. And the attitudes expressed by several individuals can be. As an example we are sure, doubt, uncertainty, disbelief, surprise and irony. In the communicative context in which speakers and listeners do not have language disorders, it is expected that the communicative exchanges occur smoothly, that is, without limitations to the expression and understanding of what is said. This, since there are no restrictions for both neurological, which facilitates and enables the potential use of all language skills by individuals. Such a finding can not and shouldexclude from the study of language those individuals with communication difficulties. First, because science needs to know the ways that these individuals adopt to use the language and thus to communicate and, above all, because, assuming that such individuals are often looking for rehabilitation of speech and language, we need peculiarities in their scientific knowledge to speak out so that we can perform properly the rehabilitation therapies. Considering the above, this study aimed at studying prosody in the expression of attitudes of doubt and certainty in individuals with bilateral hearing loss. To this end, we selected 12 male adolescents, aged between 11 and 17 years, all speakers of Portuguese and Brazilian residents in Belo Horizonte - MG. The selected subjects were divided into two groups one being composed of six individuals withpre-lingual bilateral deafness (research group) and six individuals with normal hearing matched in age and with the research group that comprised the control group. For data collection, subjects were induced to express 30 utterances each, expressing doubt 10, 10 and 10 statements expressing certainly neutral. Each of the three groups listed were identical lexical point of view being that the informants should varyonly the attitude to be expressed. Data collection and analysis were performed using acoustic free software PRAAT ® version 5.1.37. And the prosodic parameters analyzed were the frequency, intensityand duration. To analyze the statement: maximum F0, minimum F0, fabric, original F0, F0 end, duration, intensity, maximum intensity and minimum intensity variation. To highlight the stressed syllable and also for the pre-tonic syllable found: maximum F0, minimum F0, melodic range, duration and rate of speed melodic variation. The test used to make the comparisons was the hypothesis for difference between means (Students t-test), and adopted the significance level of 5%. Already an informer for the analysis of each acoustic measurement, we applied the nonparametric Mann- Whitney test. In addition to these tests, we performed also the analysis of cluster. We also applied a test of auditory discrimination with emotions in the research groupand a group of 10 judges and a subjective reaction test (perception) to another group of 10 judges to the statements containing the attitudes expressed by the group of informants research and the control group. For the interpretation of these results were carried out qualitative analysis. The results showed that there were significant differences between the research group and the control group, while the control group had more significant prosodic variations that control both the expression of attitudes toward neutral as stated in the differentiation between the attitudes of doubt and sure. We found that deaf can manipulate some parameters for the prosodic attitudinal expression, albeit narrowly. However, it presents greater difficulty in differentiating between attitudes. The test results showed that perceptual interlocutors recognize better the attitudes expressed by the control group compared with the study group. The results of discrimination test demonstrated that both hearing and deaf judges failed to recognize aurally melodic contour of the variation between the different emotions expressed.
