Resumo: This study describes the acquisition of tautosyllabic clusters (obstruent-vibrant) and investigates the variation between CCV and CV syllables in the speech of children with acquisition completed, taking the theoretical assumptions of the Usagebased Phonology, Exemplar Models and Social-Pragmatic Theory in the language acquisition. In this approach, it is assumed that mental representation is composed ofmultiple exemplars and that the child phonological development occurs in a gradual fashion. The acquisition process is built and the linguistic structure emerges from the usage. For of clusters acquisition investigation, the data was collected transversally and longitudinally, using picture naming and repetition procedure. For investigation inthe variation between CCV and CV syllables, it was used the picture naming, repetition, story retelling and memory game interaction procedure. The results show evidence of phonetic and lexical gradience in the acquisition of tautosyllabic clusters. Regarding the cancellation vibrant of tautosyllabic clusters in the speech of children with acquisition completed, the factors of individual, word, tonicity, size and token frequency were found to be relevant. This study represents a new approach in Phonology, once it góes against traditional concepts about the manner a child acquires a language and also it discusses the acquisition of variable sound patterns.
