Resumo: In this thesis, the Finite Element Method is applied to handle the radiation and scattering problems present in automotive electromagnetic susceptibility tests. First, radiation and scattering are treated as two different problems. The finite element solutions for each one are presented separately. Since those problems are, generally, placed in open regions, it is necessary to limit the discretization volume. In this test, two different Absorbing Boundary Conditions are analyzed to limit the domain. They were presented by Engquist-Majda and Baliss-Turkel. Finally, the coupling between the radiation and scattering problem is treated iteratively, which results in the two main contributions of this thesis: a generalized iterative procedure to solve coupled problems; convergence analysis and error estimate of the proposed method. Since the presented iterative method do not modify the main characteristics of the methods applied to solve each sub-problem, it makes possible the use of appropriated methods to solve the radiation and scattering phenomenon separately.
