Resumo: | This research discuss one of the most prominent governmental practices for intervention towards homelessness - the sheltering - and intents to analyze the intertwinement between institutional logics of management and its users daily routines. Starting from the historical (re)construction of the Brazilian homelessness category população em situação de rua, I explore the development of the trajectory of such sheltering policies and the rise of the two primary forms in which this service is offered: the overnight shelters and the temporary houses. Both modalities were investigated based on my observation of four sheltering institutions located in the city Belo Horizonte city, which were analyzed based on the differences in their operation and on the ways users relate with the rules and organization of such institutions in order to produce their daily lives. As a result of this analysis, this work compares how both forms of sheltering participates in the production of a contemporary way of being homeless in Brazil and how it express itself in the urban space. |
