Resumo: This work compared the performance of two groups of cows from crossing of international Holstein (H) and the crossing of Frisian from New Zealand (F) with crossbred Holstein x Gir. From 1649 heifers and 354 H F born, remained in the herd until weaning, one, two and three years respectively 93.0 and 94.4%, 90.0 and 91.1%, 89.1 and 89.9% and 85.4 and 83.3% (P> 0.05 for all). The mean weight at weaning and birth, (N = 1025 and 292, 937 and 224, for H and F) were 79.1 ± 1.2 and 79.7 ± 1.6 kg (P = 0.74) , and 502.3 ± 4.2 and 491.4 ± 6.7 (P = 0.18) for H and F. Age at first service (N = 1075 and 220) was 607.2 ± 19.4 and 528.6 ± 32.9days (P = 0.04) and duration of pregnancy in heifers 278.1 ± 0.04 and 276, 2 ± 0.7 (P = 0.02). In 1191 and 213 lactation, the lactation length was 281.1 ± 5.0 and 264.1 ± 9.4 days and milk yield was 5106.5 ± 129.9 and 4618.7 ± 235.1 kilograms (duration , P = 0.11 and production, P = 0.08). The percentage of protein, fat and total solids were respectively 3.26 ± 0.02, 3.47 ± 0.05 and 12.39 ± 0.08 % for H and 3.38 ± 0, 03, 3.73 ± 0.08 and 12.85 ± 0.13% for F, in primiparous, and 3.27 ± 0.02, 3.44 ± 0.06 and 12.21 ± 0.09 for the H and 3.39 ± 0.04, 3.85 ± 0.10 and 12.76 ± 0.16 for F, in multiparous (P <0.05 for all).
