Resumo: | The Chapels of Passos da Paixão de Cristo and Dores de Maria in Minas Gerais - Brazil, emerged in the colonial period for the catholic religious practice of the via crucis, along with the devotional sculptures of Senhor dos Passos and Nossa Senhora das Dores. These images were inserted in the 18th and 19th centuries by the irmandades of Nosso Senhor dos Passos and Nossa Senhora das Dores in their own chapels or in the side altars of the first parishes in Minas Gerais. During Quaresma and Semana Santa, these sculptures are removed by their guardians from religious temples to carry out processions through the streets of the cities where stations of the via crucis, remembrances and liturgical songs are made. Inside the Passos Chapels there are altars with representations of the religious scenography of Jesus Christ and the Virgin Mary in paintings and sculptures, according to regional tradition. The cities of Ouro Preto, Mariana, Tiradentes and São João del-Rei in Minas Gerais are the scenarios for these devotions and have the oldest cults preserved in the 21th century, which is why they were selected for this investigation, considering their dynamism evolutionary. The relationship between religious architectures and the urban environments is also addressed in this research, for which we consider aspects of Urban Morphology and Landscape and Environment. As a result, we hope to value a theme little mentioned in Brazil, in addition to establishing reflections and criteria on ways of knowing, protecting, preserving and scientific divulgation part of Minas Gerais culture for present and future generations. |
