The study analyzes the impacts generated by the Minas-Rio project, large mining enterprise Anglo American Company in Conceiço do Mato Dentro municipality. The aim is to highlight the installation and operation of this mining project in the city and its relation to environmental policy and conservation areas, taking into account the territories in conflict. The study sought to contextualize on environmental issues and sustainable development, as the occupation of mining activity occurs in an area ofimportance for conservation of water resources and biodiversity. Thus, forenvironmental conservation in the municipality existing legal mechanisms for environmental licensing and environmental compensation will be discussed. Finally dedicated to the context of environmental policy and conservation units, which are thefocus of analysis given its relevance in RBSE and environment maintenance also whith respect on of eco-tourism activity. However, the current situation of protected areas requires greater local role of the actors on the reordering of the territories, did not brought concrete improvements to the municipal conservation units
