The present dissertation proposes a study on the application of the sustainable premises in the housing units and housing projects coming from the Minha Casa Minha Vida Program - PMCMV - in the state of Minas Gerais. For the execution of this proposal a bibliographic review was carried out analyzing the existing concepts of sustainable construction and popular housing and after an analysis on the production of MCMV, firstly in the Metropolitan Region of Belo Horizonte and later in the state of Minas Gerais. The legislation applied does not produce elements for the definition of measures to promote sustainable measures in housing and housing for the low-income population, leaving a gap for diverse actions originating from the constraints of each region and the analysis of economic viability by the agents of the Program. These points require care and attention to prevent the Program from being compromised in the near future.
