A educação física na revista do ensino: produção de uma disciplina escolar em Minas Gerais (1925-1940)

Resumo: The present work addresses the presence of the scholar discipline Physical Education on the Revista do Ensino, publication for teacher formation produced by Minas Gerais government, on 1920s and 1930s. The research was about how this educational periodic produced and put into circulation the prescription of practices, representations of Physical Education and of scholar subjects especially teachers and students involved in that discipline. Revista do Ensino was taken as the main source for the study, totaling 175 issues published from 1925 (when it started) to 1940 (when it was interrupted). Other set of sources mobilized was the educational legislation of the period, specifically the rules and primary and normal school plans, set by Minas state government, with propositions for Physical Education. The crossing of the documental sets legislation and Revista do Ensino allowed for the verification of the co-relationship between those two different prescriptive devices. It was made possible to observe an intense presence of questions related to Physical Education on the Revista: investments for the formation a set of teachers specific for teaching that discipline; propositions for their actuation; expectative in relation to the students formation and prescriptions of knowledge and practices of Physical Education. The whole movement, made by Revista, constitutes what was called at the study as a scholarization project for the Physical Education at Minas Gerais. We highlight that the production of that scholar discipline was not homogenous. On the contrary, it beheld ambiguities, advances and withdraws, and conflicts between representations. However, the study allows us to affirm that Revista do Ensino, was, in fact, a strategy for the formation of teacher of Physical Education.
