Resumo: Information is a fundamental element of almost everything an organization does, being the basis of the dynamics of productive and organizational processes. The creation of meaning is linked to the assimilation of messages about the environment. The use of information is linked to the capacity for interpretation, understanding, innovation and management for decision making. The construction of knowledge represents the core of the process of using information within an organization. It is motivated by a situation that highlights gaps in current knowledge. Decision making occurs naturally after the creation of meanings and the construction of knowledge. It is caused by the need to choose the course of an action. Considering the value of information, this thesis aims to analyze how religious leaders use channels and sources of information to create meaning, build knowledge and make decisions. In order to reach the objective, a descriptive qualitative research was developed based on a case study in which the data collection was done through a structured interview and interview using the critical incident technique performed with 12 religious leaders from Belo Horizonte, being 6 priests and 6 pastors. From the collected data it was possible to perceive that the informational needs of the religious leaders are based, mainly by religious questions that aim to assist in the exercise of the priesthood. Moreover, religious leaders are concerned with the sense of information, conditions, standards and usage rules aimed at spiritually orienting as well as bringing in diverse information aimed at the knowledge and learning of the faithful. The decisions are aimed at meeting the organization's guidelines through formal rules, which leads to behavior regulated by norms and routines, so that the organization can act in a procedural and intentional way.
