Resumo: This dissertation discusses the Brazilian experience in the development of science parks, based on one fundamental axis: the design of the process and criteria for selection of tenants, specially academic spinoffs, in Brazilian parks. The discussion presents theoutcomes of a survey on Brazilian operating parks, which identifies, in one side, the effective mechanisms used for attraction and captivation of companies, and in the other, the set of companies that could be classified as academic spinoffs. Additionally, it presents the results of a research-action developed in the context of the definition of admission criteria that will be adopted in the Science Park of Belo Horizonte (BH-TEC). As a result, this work indicates that the selective process of enterprises can be considered a key-instrument to bring near parks and their potential residents, once it permits, for the park, a better comprehension of the technology-based sector of the industry and, for the companies, an assessment of their growth potential and the perception over the parks expectations towards them. Criteria related to technology, product, market and the entrepreneurial background of the team appeared to be the most relevant ones to indicate the successpotential of high-tech companies.
