Resumo: | This thesis is the result of an artistic research on the performance of percussion and singing voice, performed simultaneously by the same performer. This new musical current began around the second half of the 20th century. In recent years there has been an increase in this type of repertoire due, above all, to the interest of percussionists, who often compose their own works or commission them from other composers. The text presents a brief history of the simultaneous performance of percussion and singing voice, focusing on its development within contemporary concert music. Within this context, characteristics of the use of voice in the contemporary repertoire and basic information about the functioning of the vocal tract are also presented. Based on information found in the literature on the topic and the author's personal experience with the repertoire, several recommendations are listed for instrumentalists and/or singing percussionists interested in the preparation and performance of this repertoire. Finally, an interpretative analysis of three works is presented: an adaptation, Siete Canciones Populares Españolas by composer Manuel de Falla; a commission, El Último Sello by composer Carlos dos Santos; and an original work for marimba and singing, Ghost and Arms by composer Ivan Trevino. |
