Resumo: | The study reflects on mobile learning in the context of language teaching based on the perceptions of a group of public school students. The research investigates the use of the ChatClass educational platform as a didactic support in English Teaching, paying attention to a possible relationship between the student agency, mobile learning and language teaching principles. The study is based on theoretical contributions about English Teaching principles and about agency, affordances and mobile learning. The research is characterized as a qualitative case study. Data collection instruments include the use of questionnaires, interviews and observation of ChatClass activities. The data obtained were categorized according to evidence of student agency postulated in the literature and based on the characteristics of mobile learning perceived by students. The results indicated that the students had good experiences with the use of the ChatClass, the possibilities of choice and the interaction with the robot were identified as motivators for learning. The investigation of the platform's didactic activities showed that, despite the predominance of traditionalist principles, students were agents in their learning processes. The study contributes to the analysis of ChatClass as a didactic tool for English Teaching and offers support for understanding how digital technologies can promote student agency in learning contexts. |
