Resumo: This work developed various topics in the study of railway noise and vibration. The goal of this study is to propose methodologies to measure, predict and evaluate environmental vibration and noise of the Brazilian railroads. Another important objective é to analyze the consistency of the vibration and noise evaluation criteria available in the literature. To carry out this work, it was necessary a experimental stage in order to characterize the level of vibration and noise of rail by pass. The methodologies proposed and used for railway environmental noise were established by NBR 10151 (2000) for measurement, as practiced in the United States for evaluation and established by ISO 9613 (with adjustments) for simulation. The methodologies proposed and used to railway environmental vibration were established by DIN 45669 for measurement and the so-called "Swedish Method for Predicting Vibration" with adaptations for prediction. To evaluate the railway ambient vibration various criteria were applied and proposed a methodology for future study in order to be able to indicate scientifically evaluation criteria.
