Resumo: This thesis presents the situation of global energy and national energy matrix and the change of a steel company energy matrix with the substitution of mineral coke by charcoal, the replacement of the Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) to natural gas and the benefits of these changes. In terms of energy efficiency, this paper presents the implementation of a pilot project developed using the feature of the law of energy efficiency to save power, the implementation of various projects for energy, and changes in the mass and energy balance with the change of the matrix calculation of energy and CO2 emissions; solved the whole system of generation, distribution and consumption of gas furnace that is used to replace petroleum fuels. The World Steel Association methodology to define equivalence of energy and CO2 emissions was applied. The implementation of all these projects provided in the Steel Company increased participation of renewable energy sources by 24%, from 64% to 88%, against 47% of national energy and 13% of the world; provided reduction in CO2 emissions by 52%, equivalent to 554 thousand tons per year and increased competitiveness by reducing energy cost by 30%.
