Resumo: | This researchis aimed to understand how art and politics are connected. Specifically, it is aimed to know how politicalactions and Gilberto Gils music contribute to the emancipation of individuals and democracy. This research uses a qualitative methodology, standing on the border that surrounds the interdisciplinary fields of music, sociology of music, history and education. The Gilberto Gils interventionis focused on the analysis in both, the artistic-cultural and socio-political fields. In order to describe analytically the relationship between political praxis and production aesthetic, the Tropicalia events and the performance of Gilberto Gil in the Lula Government (2003-2008) with theaesthetic production are considered too. Methodologically, were two main procedures: musical analysis and episodic semi-structured interviews. Several issues were raised throughthatresearch: The social processes involved in the relationship between art and politics, the music as a condensed training practice; the contribution of Gilberto Gils music for a human emancipation; the Tropicaliacultural movement and its links with the political stance of its members; the deepening about Gilberto Gils socio-political history, through the analysis of concepts, attitudes and thoughts, like, for example, the do-inanthropological and the program Pontos de Cultura. Also, it stands out in this research the notion of music as a social process and the discussion of the individual or subjective processes involved in social and aesthetic education. Some of important authors with whom dialogues were stablished in this research are Walter Benjamin (1987), Boaventura Santos (2007), Marcelo Ridenti (2000), Marco Napolitano (2005) and Philip Tagg (2011). In the same way were approached the Tropicalism, the social movements, the program Pontos de Culturaand the link between art, practice policies and their impact on human development. Finally, this paper is concluded with an analytical and synthetical overview of the key issues addressed, seeking to relate them to the debate of some literature's authors. |
