Resumo: | The accelerated urbanization and the fast crowding of cities bring up issues related to the intensification of solid waste generation. The society, researchers and government have turned their efforts to address the difficulties encountered in management, treatment and proper disposal of the large volumes of wastes produced. In this context, the construction and demolition waste (RCD) is highlighted since, in general, it represents a large portion of the solid waste generated in urban areas. The main impacts faced by municipalities regarding construction and demolition waste is associated with irregular disposal of huge quantities produced and public administration expenses with corrective models of waste management. This situation can be attributed to the absence of specific public policies to address the RCD management or for noncompliance of the existing ones. Aiming to contribute to this area of knowledge, the goal of this research was to study the current situation and the evolution of the integrated management of RCD in the city of Belo Horizonte - MG. Therefore, a diagnosis was performed through three phases of study: local contextualization of basic indicators, quantitative characterization and analysis of public facilities involved in the management of RCD. Based on the results, it was verified that the city of Belo Horizonte has a good structure dedicated to management of RCD, in accordance with the requirements of CONAMA Resolution nº. 307/2002, however some adjustments showed to be necessary. Futhermore, this research proposed and implemented a simple methodology for rapid definition of appropriate sites to install waste screening and transshipment areas, which proved efficient as the proposed objective. Some limitations of the suggested methodology were presented, which does not invalidate its use as a preliminary analysis. |
