Resumo: | In this work, presented an evaluation of prediction models of water retention curve in slope stability analysis in unsaturated soils when used the program VADOSE / W. These models make the prediction curve water retention of soil from the particle size curve and geotechnical data through the models proposed by Aubertin et al.(2003) and Arya Paris (1981), instead of the use of water retention curve and strength parameters measured in the laboratory. For this, were selected four works between dissertations and theses on strength of unsaturated soils and that effectively made the determination of water retention and strength parameters through tests with controlled suction in undisturbed soil samples and either estimated indirectly by strength unsaturated models. Thus, with these data, the program was used to evaluate the stability of slopes from the use of soil parameters determined directly by employing assays prediction models that estimate water retention curve. To prediction the retention curve through models of Aubertin et al.(2003) and Arya and Paris (1981) used the resources embedded in the program VADOSE / W. Another way to predict the water retention curve was through calculation of water retention curve by applying empirical equations of the model Aubertin et al.(2003) and for this case study used data of the basic geotechnical properties of soil according to classification to the type of soil particle size presented in the works analyzed. From that calculation water retention curve the data were inserted into the program VADOSE / W and made the stability analysis. For these water retention curves calculated curves were analyzed without adjustment and adjustments following the procedures of model Aubertin at al.(2003). The strength model used was of Vanapalli (1996), which conceptually it is based on the water retention curve and is quoted in the user manual program. From this made up to a comparison between factors of safety of methods when using the resources of the VADOSE and curves calculated and these in comparison with the methods of case studies. Lastly, verified through analyzes of stability the models of fit the data measured in laboratory referring to the models of Van Genuchten (1980) and of Fredlund and Xing (1994) in order to to verify differences in the final values in the safety factor. |
