The present work consists in the analysis of the life trajectory, sociability networks and works of the Brazilian jurist Osny Duarte Pereira, in the period that includes the publication of his first book, Brazilian Forest Law, in 1950, until the enactment of the Forest Code in 1965. It is considered that in this period of time Brazil experienced processes of disputes between projects of economic and social development. The main objective of this dissertation was to understand how were made the articulations between the defense of the national development and the conservation of the forests, all these over Duarte Pereira's view. In historiography, in general, there are no productions that have focused on the life and career of this intellectual, which reinforces the importance of this research. In this dissertation, it was analyzed works produced by Osny Duarte Pereira, newspaper articles of the period that portrayed their repercussion, as well as the documentation and archives of the personal life of the jurist.
