Resumo: The harmful use of drugs among adolescents in Brazilian schools has increased every year. Research shows that the number of high school students, aged between 16 and 18, who reported having used alcohol in their lifetime is over 80%. Alcohol and tobacco appear leading the statistics among young people, but drugs such as inhalants, marijuana, anxiolytics, cocaine and amphetamines also appear on the lists. Given this scenario and, considering the importance of schools in preventing harmful drug use and in health education, the purpose of this work was to promote scientific knowledge about psychotropic drugs using active methodologies, such as investigative study and action research, through student protagonism. In this work, we identify the best didactic practices for a more efficient approach to the subject, we highlight the role of the school and the school community in the processes of awareness about harmful drug use and we evaluate the efficiencies of existing projects. Finally, we propose solutions through products developed during the execution of this work: interactive manuals, didactic sequence and projects on the subject. We conclude that the best form of prevention, in addition to information and knowledge, is the opportunity to carry out artistic, recreational and/or sports activities.
