Resumo: This work aims to understand how employees of Primary Health in Ribeirão das Neves, one of the cities in the metropolitan region of Belo Horizonte in Minas Gerais state, consider addressing violence in their work context. Several studies have demonstrated the impact of violence on the health of the population and how violence is recognized as a public health problem that needs to be faced. In order to know how this issue has been addressed within the context of the Family HealthStrategy in the scientific literature and public policy, we conducted a literature review that studies come from 2002 (shortly after the entry of the formal agenda of violence in health sector in Brazil with the National Policy to Reduce Accidents and Violence published by the Ministry of Health in 2001) and the main policies relevant to the topic. The database used for the search of scientific articles was the Virtual HealthLibrary, of which 12 were selected publications that addressed addressing violence from health promotion within the Family Health Strategy. Studies highlight the new guidelines that this strategy brings to the process of health-illness care, the need to improve intersectoral action in relation to addressing violence, due to the fact that thisis a complex problem and multifactorial and develop prevention and health promotion. Also point out the great crossing of violence to workers' health and theack of primary care professionals to deal with this problem. Already the empirical research of this study used qualitative methodology and exploratory, whose method was to hold conversation groups inspired by the theory of focus groups with workers of the municipality referred to Primary Care. We analyzed the transcribed speech of avgroup of Community Health Agents (CHA), selected for having greater wealth ofvinformation regarding the objectives of this study. For the treatment of the data, wevconducted a thematic content analysis proposed by Minayo (2010). The resultv7vindicate that the ACS established relationship between health and violence, violencevthat design in a broad and complex, as evidenced by their reports. The violence isvexperienced in their daily work in different ways and has a great impact on both thepopulation served by the PSF as in their professional performance in general. Feelvpowerlessness of addressing violence, especially when it comes to a situationvalready installed. Cite actions to prevent violence, carried out by the PSF, which werevabruptly interrupted or discontinued. Thus, strategies to deal with violence, whethervat the level of attention to victims is on prevention, still require development.vRecognize the importance of conducting and intersectoral health promotion foraddressing violence, but point shy initiatives.
