The current stage of technology in the field of computer science allows a computer to elaborate, in text format, a response to a question through a database query guided by algorithms and specialist systems programmed to choose the most appropriate response among the various alternatives. This research demonstrates that the technological potential can be used for the development of systems that are capable of promoting substantial automation of the legal work, especially regarding the elaboration of petitions and judicial decisions, with similar or even greater efficiency than the work performed by a human being. In view of the fact that most new court cases in Brazil will be prosecuted in electronic lawsuit systems which facilitates the development of legal automation systems the dissemination of these new technologies has the potential to promote a substantial change in the judicial system, whether in, the field of legal practice or the science of law itself and also in the legal labor market, thus requiring further studies and regulation in order to align the use of technology with the objectives of the Democratic Rule of Law.
