Resumo: The musical performance anxiety affects a large portion of musicians causing the decrease of the performance improvement and, if the symptoms are severe, may produce scaring of public presentations. Beta blockers have been used by many musicians to relieve the symptoms of MPA often without professional guidance and without knowing the real effects of this treatment. The target audience for this research is Brazilian undergraduate music students. They were chosen due to the peculiarities found in this training course during university life, which is a decisive step in their musical career. We investigated through a seld-administered questionnaire via internet characteristics that make up a profile of Brazilian undergraduate students users of beta blockers as the musical performance anxiety oping strategy. The survey was conducted with 224 undergraduate students from June 10th, 2013 to August 23rd, 2013. The data obtained allowed the composition of a profile of undergraduate music students using beta-blockers. 17.27% of respondents reported using or having already used at some point the beta-blockers, with the vast majority resorting to self-medication. This research has not found / did not find answers to some questions and additional research is necessary for a better understanding about the subject.
