Resumo: This work explores the emancipatory potential of drums celebrations on Black Atlantic and new ways of culture, knowledge and social recognition that its provides. Through concept of Black Atlantic developed for Paul Gilroy as a transnational hybrid culture based on African diaspora, this research investigates those celebrations called festas de terreiro characterized by the use of body, music and dance as political source of struggle for freedom and social inclusion. On closer examination, exploring celebrations based on Bantos tradition found in Brazilian Southeast as Jongo and Candombe, we seek to show that only a descolonial epistemic can be able to overcome dualistic rational model raised by modernity and became hegemonic by scientific sphere. Therefore, using insights from postcolonial studies, cultural studies and African studies and bringing the Dionysian metaphor developed for Nietzsche to think the forms of rationality connected with body and performance, we address how shared cultural practices based on African drum tradition could be conceived as alternative and complementary forms of emancipation and knowledge.
