This study relates to three experiences in library cultural action developed in different contexts and with different periodsof time. Each experience is described in detail using the Case Study method. This work aimed characterizing the space wherecultural action takes place, related to the library culturalaction praxis and identifying factors which interfere in thispraxis. Aspects were analyzed which refer to the context where library cultural action is developed, to the dynamics of the process itself, and to political factors involved. The role of libraries as cultural centers and that of librarians as culturalagents were emphasized. Taking a comparative analysis of the three mentioned cases as a starting point, some considerations were made for professionals to work as library cultural agents. Suggestions were made for the education of librarians towardsqualifying them for a better performance in cultural action.
