Resumo: The aim of this work is to investigate the technologies of conflict resolution adopted to deal with and respond to the critics in two existing mining projects in Minas Gerais, Brazil. The first belongs to, the Anglo-American group and, is known as Minas-Rio, considered one of the largest mining complex in the world. The second regard Samarco's Fundão tailings dam which became internationally known because of the greatest environmental disaster that occurred in Brazil. Through an ethnography of the mediation meetings involving local communities, corporations and State officials, we seek to examine the effects of political technologies of crises management. By way of pacifying conflicts in contexts of deregulations, the emphasis on agreements, contribute to reduce and delegitimate local claims and political practices. Meanwhile those who are recognized as affected people are only partially attended in their rights through an assymetrical proccess of negotiation, mining projects reduce the costs of reparation measures and can endure due to juridical and state governance practices.
