Resumo: Thermomechanical parameters have great influence on the kinetics of softening in steels and, consequently, on the grain morphology and sizes during and after deformation. Static and dynamic grain refining mechanisms acting during hot rolling vary as a function of rolling temperature, the applied deformation, the interpass times and chemical compositions. The goal of this work was to built a mathematical modelvia Excel type spreadsheet able to predict microstructure evolution and, consequently, to predict mechanical properties of a structure shape after hot rolling in an industry plant. Initially, characterization of the forming process for a given product was carried out taking into account the main process variables such as strain, strain rate, temperature and interpass times, among others. Then, industry trials were performed to obtain aentry data set to feed the mathematical model. Finally, the model was validated by comparing its predictions with results obtained directly from industry runs.
