Resumo: The Veterinarian Confidence Index (ICMV) is a statistical survey which generates information that aims at monitoring the health status of veterinarians and at foreseeing future events that may affect their health and life quality. From this perspective, the ICMV was created to identify trend changes in self-perceptions of quality of life, well-being and confidence of veterinarians in the state of Minas Gerais. Thus, a longitudinal, observational and descriptive / analytical study was conducted from September 2017 to December 2018. An electronic questionnaire available through the Regional Council of Veterinary Medicine of Minas Gerais (CRMV-MG) was answered by 886 veterinarians. Scores were calculated according to participants' responses to assess their confidence, in which the indicator ranged from 0 to 100. Scores above the 50 cutoff point showed optimism / confidence and below reveled distrust from the participants. Thus, it is noted that the majority of veterinarians demonstrated a low score, that is, they presented low confidence due to the current conditions in which they live. However, regarding expectations, we observed that there was an improvement in responses and a consequent increase in scores, indicating neutrality or possible optimism about the future. The veterinarian's confidence is directly linked to their quality of life, as stressful working conditions influence the well-being of these professionals. It is evident, therefore, a constant change in trends in life quality and well-being of these professionals, resulting from these low confidence scores. Thus, it highlights the importance of effective participation of the Council to encourage the participation of these professionals in surveys like these, to assist in the construction of public policies, thus improving the conditions that influence the confidence of these professionals.
