Resumo: This research is the result of the study of fifteen artworks that were prizes in the categories painting, sculpture, drawing, engraving and research of the Municipal Halls of Fine Arts in Belo Horizonte (SMBA-BH) between 1964 -1968, artworks that take part of the current collection of the Museu de Arte da Pampulha - MAP. The aim of this research was to contribute to the familiarity of the MAP collection and of the visual arts in Belo Horizonte. The methodology used was the analysis of the artworks on the bias of the triple record in the history of art, based on formal, semantic and social aspects. This methodology provides us ways of analysis that are able to accommodate the material, technical, artistical, aesthetical and historical sphere in the artworks. Thus, the artworks were studied as primary sources and their interpretation was developed in dialogue with some documents (such as journals and institutional records) and theoretical references and narratives of history of art.
