Resumo: In this research work, dance improvisation was studied from its multiple marks in the poetics of contemporary dance. The didactics of invention in dance improvisation was designed from the inspiration given by the poem A Didactics of Invention, by Manoel de Barros, and interwoven with the understanding of invention as a cognition policy. In order to qualify the didactics of invention in contemporary dance improvisation, we problematized the type of knowledge and teaching-learning involved in improvisation. The work methodology encompassed interviews with Minas Gerais’ born female artists Dudude, Margô Assis and Thembi Rosa, along with male artist Tuca Pinheiro, as well as literature revision, critical and interpretive readings of contemporary dance video works and of registers regarding this doctoral student’s formative and artistic-teaching trajectory. From the theoretical articulations and problematizations, contemporary dance improvisation was interpreted as knowledge grown in rhizome. It is possible to develop the notion of improvisation as a nomadic art, the understanding of improvisation-knowledge, the conceptions regarding improviser-teacher and improviser-apprentice. It was also possible to distinguish as inventive-didactic objectives: cultivating experimental and pro-active attitudes, cultivating ways of being alert and attentive ways of repetition as well as continuous assessment modalities.
