Resumo: | This paper aims at investigating the impact of trade liberalisation in Minas Gerais and São Paulos job markets from 1992 until 1999, using HOS Model as a milestone. PNAD was the database from which local job market was analysed while SECEX, FJP and SEADE were used for market flows. The methodology adopted, due to Katz and Murphy (1992), is based on the construction of relative employment and earnings measures used in tests that evaluate the relationship between international trade and job market. There are evidences supporting the relationship between free trade and job market favouring less skilled workers in the State of Minas Gerais while, for São Paulo, it seems that other changes of the economic scenario are responsible for the movements in jobs composition. |
