Resumo: | This study presents a research conducted under the University Extension Project Frutos do Morro, of the Departamento de Medicina Preventiva e Social da Faculdade de Medicina da Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (FM/UFMG). It has aimed reflexively to understand the meanings attributed to violence by a group of high school students in a public school in Belo Horizonte (MG), in the perspective of health promotion and Habermas´ Theory of Communicative Action. Starting from the thesis of Habermas' colonization of the lifeworld by the system, it understands the phenomenon of violence as an expression of their mediating role of social relationships in replacement of intersubjective recognition linguistically mediated. Twelve adolescents (10 females and 2 males) were selected from a public school of Urban Agglomerate Morro das Pedras, located in Belo Horizonte (MG). Thirteen meetings (workshops) were conducted and data were collected through participant observation research techniques and field diaries. This is a qualitative study in which we employed the hermeneutic-dialectic method for data analysis. The implementation of the workshops represented the possibility of rebuilding social bonds through participatory methodology and the restoration of dialogical relations for intersubjective recognition based on solidarity among teenagers. So this is understood as a strategy for health promotion, prevention of violence and building a culture of peace at school. The encounters fragments of the life world of these subjects expressed in themes such as these: racism, work, family relationships, social exclusion and poverty. The survey results also point to the need for greater integration among the actors of the school community, as well as for a more effective integration of the school and health services located in their territory. |
