Resumo: | The following research held in a state-owned public school at Belo Horizonte-MG, had as main objective to investigate if videos made, by the students, about the curricular chemical subjects, serve to the basic psychological needs of autonomy, competence and relationship, proposed by Deci & Ryan(1985), a requirement of the Self-Determination Theory(SDT). The methodology used was an action-research and the teacher, who is also a researcher, analyzed the data of her own students during class. Initially, a didactical sequence was made which was named pilot, since its exploratory nature. The results of this pilot, reveal that the students had a feeling of competence for video making, but they didnt have the autonomy to do such activities and the relationships between pairs needed to be further evaluated. Later on, the didactical sequence was reformulated and applied to 113 students. The results reveal that the students had a feeling of competence for video making; needing an initial support from the teacher to develop autonomy; and their feeling of relationship is fundamental to developing the activities involved in video making with the STS approach. We conclude that the video making by the students, along with technology usage in classroom, can facilitate learning and motivate them to solve daily problems. |
