Resumo: The manufacturing processes evolution is closely tied to the society evolution. The intense use of information technology and electronics in the command and control of manufacturing equipments has broken the need of large production bathes to obtain profitable processes paradigm. This reality, in addition to the increasing need for miniaturized parts for smaller and smaller devices for medical, microelectronics, military and other applications has increased the demand for equipments able to produce mechanical parts which details have dimensions about a tenth of millimeter, always ensuring speed and dimensional reliability. This leads us to the need of application of concepts such micro machining and high speed machining (HSM). This master thesis deals with the possibility of building a low cost equipment, which has a polymeric concrete structure and commercial mechanical and electro electronic parts, and is capable of producing small parts with accuracy and good performance. The results show the possibility of obtaining an equipment with these features without the need for major investments.
