Resumo: The object of this dissertation is some samples of farms which arose since the beginning of the occupation of the state of Minas Gerais territory until the beginning of the 20th Century, and of farms located in part of the old county of Sabará, in the cites of the micro region presently polarized by Belo Horizonte. The main purpose of this paper is the verification of the occurrence of architectural typology and patterns of implantation of the buildings on the land as well as the investigation if the rural architecture of the region in study conformed architectural typologies, especially the owners house, casa-sede the main house. As far as the adjoining buildings are concerned, an attempt is made to verify if they present recognizable schemes, configuring implantation sets of the buildings on the terrain which may be identifiable and systematized. At first, a total of 29 buildings were proposed for analysis, some of which were discarded for not meeting the requisites of established analysis criteria. For the analyses to be effective the concept of typology used was that given by the Italian authors, especially Giulio Carlo Argan and Bruno Zevi who have studied both types of architecture, of exceptional and popular character. Concepts of Amos Rapopport anthropological contribution were also used, especially for the interpretation of such rural architectural sets. The typological study analyzes the architectonic concepts adopted for the main house, the equipment, the constructive systems, and the economic development that ended up conforming the farms. This research intends to contribute to enlarge the understanding of those processes of production and of the development of such rural architecture, stimulating preservation of those types of constructions.
