Resumo: | This paper aims to analyze the relation word and image in the book The Language of the Birds, from poet Attar, associated to illuminations produced by artist Kamal al-Din Bihazd to illustrate it. Our hypothesis is that this relation distances from the ekphrastic occidental model and presents new paradigms to think this dialog in contemporaryvisual and verbal arts. The study presents the plastic and structural aspects of art in Persian book, the operation of the workshops where they were produced, including the investigation on image identity and written word in that culture and, finally, a dialogue analysis between the images produced by Bihzad and Attars text in the referred manuscript. The findings about the influence of Sufism on Bizhads and Attarsproduction, the experience of the imaginary as a way of knowledge, creation and theophany, the role of the reader as message code-breaker are highlighting elements in the conclusion of this research. |
