Resumo: | The aim of this study was to identify lateral differences of dynamic variables of the lower limbs in high level soccer players. For that, two measuring methods were used, vertical jumps on a double force-platform and the isokineticdynamometer method. It was also an objective of this study to correlate the results obtained from each test and analyse whether the isokinetic test can predict the vertical jumps when identifying lateral differences in athletes.Participants in this study were 51 professional soccer players. Each subject performed 3 jumps with countermovement on a double force-platform. The best jump was chosen for the analysis of the lateral difference through maximal force, maximal power output and momentum variables. The isokinetic test was then performed in the same day, concentrically for the knee extenders, bilaterally, in the angular velocities of 60, 180, and 300º/s. The isokinetic variables for the analysis of bilateral differences were peak torque and peak work. Descriptive statistics, correlation test and regression analysis were caculated for each dynamic variable evaluated. The soccer players were asymmetric for the variables peak torque at 60º/s (11,49 ± 12,39%), peak work at 60º/s (10,93 ± 10,79%), momentum (24,82 ± 20,22%) and maximal power output (27,63 ± 20,84%). All variables were significantly related (p,<0,01) in the lateral difference analysis. The greatest relation occurred between peak work300º/s and maximal force (constant = 629) and between peak torque at 300º/s and maximal force (constant = 625). In the regression analysis between dynamic variables of the vertical jumps and dynamic variables of the isokinetic test to identify the lateral differences, the greatest prediction levels also occurred between maximal force and peak torque at 300º/s (R² adjusted = 379) and between maximal force and peak work at 300º/s (R2 adjusted = 383). These findings indicate that professional soccer players have dynamic lateral differences for both vertical jumps and isokinetic test.
