Resumo: | With the emergence and rapid advancement of information and communication technologies, radio has undergone several changes in its models and practices. Rigged by digital media, the radio can offer not only the traditional sound elements (voice, effects) but also an entire interaction architecture, generating the concept of Expanded Radio (KISCHINHEVSKY, 2016). In this new radio format, sound also dialogues with video, photography, infographics and written text. Another very important aspect of expanded radio is the audience. Today, listeners not only listen and pay attention, but criticize, praise, participate and interact with other listeners on multiple platforms. Technology has changed the way many listeners behave throughout a broadcast and today we can consider them as subjects in the communication process, responsible for the production of meaning. We are increasingly witnessing the listener moving from their passivity as a consumer of entertainment and news to a level of greater interaction and interpretation about the newsworthy content. To understand how this transformation took place, in this work, we will go through the evolution process of Radio Inconfidência, incorporated in Belo Horizonte in 1936. In addition to the historical retrospective, we will do a case study with the “Casa Aberta” (Open House) Program of Radio Inconfidência FM, the first program to adopt this expanded radio model in “Brasileiríssima”. The objective is to analyze these new formats for the production of content in the environment and encourage a reflection on the radio’s change of function in the face of technological innovations and the convergence of media. Among final considerations, we highlight that Radio Inconfidência is currently in the transition from hertzian radio to expanded, hypermedia radio, appropriating, mainly, WhatsApp and social networks for interaction with listeners. |
